An Update on the Craziness in the Library

Ok so if you've been here the past couple of days, we've had sewer issues. We thought we would be closed early the next couple of days BUT they've fixed the problem so our programs are back on schedule. Teen Game Time at 3:45 today. Our Book Club was cancelled yesterday and we made plans to have it right before Game Time at 3:30 today so if you can make it then, please join us!

Teen Events for 11/12 - 11/15

We've got a great week planned this week!

Tuesday, November 12, is our Teen Challenge! We will be playing Uno Attack for prizes. Everyone will get something and the winner will win a gift card or other prize of their choice! Join us here at 4:00!

Wednesday, November 13, is our next Craft Explosion! Come do any craft that you can think of using the supplies from my closet. Be here at 4:00 to join in!

Thursday is our weekly Game Time! Come at 3:45 to join in the fun!

Teen Programs for 10/28 - 11/1

Here's what we have going this week!

Tuesday is the Teen Halloween Party! Be sure to come in a costume and join us decorating the outside wall! I will have a prize for best costume! Snacks and drinks will be provided! The fun begins at 4:00!

Wednesday is Book Club/T.A.G. Be sure to show up at 4:00!

Thursday is our weekly game time! Come at 3:45! Also the staff here at the library will be dressed up for Halloween so you will want to come and see!

Here's what we have going on this week!

Tuesday is our True Grit Scavenger Hunt. Get here at 4:00 to hunt for clues about book characters with true grit. The winner will get a prize and all participants will receive one of our summer reading backpacks that I still have!

Thursday will be our weekly Game Time! Show up at 3:45 to play your favorite games!

I want to give you advance notice that we will not be able to do Yu-Gi-Oh club on Tuesday, October 22. I will be out of town at a training session!

Teen Events for 9/16 - 9/20

Hello all! We've got two programs this week at the library, but before I get to those, I'm going to beg for some help!

On Saturday, October 5th, I need teens to be in the parade!!! If you would be willing to show up at 8:30 AM in the lot next to Northtown church of Christ that Saturday dressed in western attire, please let me know ASAP! The parade begins at 9:00 AM.

If you are not able to be there that day, but would still like to help, I will have designated days the week before the parade for you to come help! So look on the calendar and show up here at the library on those days!

Tuesday is our Teen Movie. I am planning to show Now You See Me, as long as it is available to rent.  We will begin at 3:45!

Teen Events 9/3 - 9/6

We've got some fun stuff planned this week!

Tuesday is our Teen Challenge. We will be playing Candy ball. Don't know what this is? Come today at 4:00 to learn how to play and for a chance to win candy!

Thursday we have two events. We have our weekly Game Time at 3:45. It will end at 5:30 this week to make room for another program. At 6:00 we will have a program called "Talking Birds & Bees with Ease" Now, this is not sex ed. However, if you have issues talking to your parents/guardians about sex, this would be the program to come to. This is for teens AND their parents. It covers how to communicate with your parents, and that can definitely be handy. We will have refreshments for everyone interested in coming! Teen Events 8/19 - 8/23

Hello all! We've got a great week planned!

Tuesday is Movie Time. We will begin at 3:45, so come and join us. The plan is to watch Oblivion!

Thursday we have a little change up. We usually have game time beginning at 3:45, but it will start at 5:00 instead to make room for our special program!  Get here at 3:30 to meet Nathan Brown, Poet Laureate of Oklahoma! This should be a great program so don't miss it!

Next week we have a very special program! Go ahead and mark your calendars for Thursday, August 22, at 3:30 PM! Nathan Brown, Poet Laureate of Oklahoma, will be here doing a poetry workshop for teens! Don't think you like poetry? If you listen to music with words and enjoy it, then you enjoy poetry. If you still think you don't enjoy poetry, show up on the 22nd to see if Nathan can change your mind. This should be a fantastic workshop so don't miss out!

Teen Events 8/6-8/10 Special Event Saturday!

Hello all! Here's what we've got going on this week!

Tuesday is our Teen Challenge. We're stepping back in time again with a Galaga challenge! Winner will get a prize! Join us at 4:00 PM!

Thursday we have our Game Time at 3:45! Last week I believe we set a record with 22 teens playing games. Let's see if we can break the record again! 

Saturday we have a special event! Author Lela Lane will be here to sign her book Bloodlines: The Ancestry from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM! Her book is about a girl who lives in Oklahoma and is a great read. Come by and pick up a book for $15 and get her to sign it! If you already have a copy, just bring it by!

IPAD MINI WINNER!!!

Ok the results are in! We had 385 entries to win the Ipad Mini. I assigned everyone's name to a range of numbers and then used a random number generator to pick a winner. The winner is JOHN GOOD! Congratulations! 

Now even if you didn't win the Ipad Mini you can still get prizes! For every five entries you have, you can get a prize out of the prize cabinet. So during programs for the next month, you will have an opportunity to claim your prizes! So be sure to come to programs in August so that you can get your prizes!

Last Week of Summer Programming

I've had a great time this summer and can't believe it's already at a close. Here is what we have going on for the last week of Summer Programming!

Tuesday is Yu-Gi-Oh. Bring your cards and join us at 2:00!

Wednesday is our HARRY POTTER DAY! I will be showing a movie on the projector screen. We also have another cake from Designer Cakes and if you saw our Hobbit cake, you know it will be fantastic! I will have a prize for trivia and a prize for best costume so come prepared for both! We will begin at 2:00 PM!

Thursday we will have Game Time at 3:45! We are moving back to the later timeslot so if you show up early, grab a book and wait until then!

Teen Summer Programs 7/22 - 7/26

Then end is in sight for our Summer Programs, however we still have 2 weeks full of programs before we go back to our school time hours. Here is what we have going this week!

Tuesday we will have our Teen Movie at 2:00. Our plan is to watch Oz the Great and Powerful so join us!

Wednesday we will have an origami program. Joshua Brock will be here to teach the program so this should be a lot of fun! Join us at 2:30 for this program!

Thursday we have our weekly game time so join us at 2:00 and be prepared for some games!

More Summer Reading!

Here's what we've got going on this week at the library!

Our book fair has been extended through Tuesday at NOON, so if you haven't come to get books be sure to do it by then!

BOOK FAIR

We do not have any programs this week, because this week is the BOOK FAIR! Come by and get some books! Any money we make will help fund more teen programs!

Summer Reading Week 5!

The Summer Reading Program is halfway over! Time flies when having fun! We've got another fantastic week planned so here we go!

Tuesday is Teen Challenge! We are going old school and playing Dig Dug. If you've never played don't worry, it's very easy to learn how! High score wins a prize! Join us at 2:00!

Wednesday is our Summer Reading Program. We will be having a Craft Explosion! Basically I will get everything out of my craft closet and you get to do whatever you want with it! The fun begins at 2:00!

THURSDAY WE ARE CLOSED FOR THE 4TH OF JULY! Don't come expecting to play some video games, no one will be here!

Next week we will be having our BOOK FAIR! We don't have any programs planned for next week, but if you would like to come help with the book fair come by and I'll get you set up!

Week 3 Review and Summer Reading Week 4!

We had a great time at our Hobbit Day last week! We watched the movie on the projector screen, and had some great snacks, including a fantastic Hobbit Cake!

We had a few characters show up! The Necromancer came, along with a modern day Hobbit. Link also made an appearance, apparently he decided to join the elves!

 

This week we have another great Summer Reading Program, along with a slight change to the calendar so be sure to pay attention!

 

Tuesday is Yu-Gi-Oh at 2:00! If you play, or want to learn, be sure to join us!

 

Wednesday is our first Summer Reading Cooking Class! We will be making Crunchwraps so if you want to come, make sure your name is on the list. I will be squeezing in as many teens as I can so show up and if I can get you in I will!

 

Thursday there is a slight change. I found out I will not be here Thursday afternoon so our game time this Thursday is in the MORNING @ 10:30! So drag yourself out of bed and join us for 2 hours of gaming fun!

Summer Reading Week 3

We had a great time last week with Kiona Millirons making steampunk jewelry! We've got another great week planned for week 3! Here's what we've got going on:

Tuesday is our Teen Challenge! We will be playing some Minute to Win It games for a chance to win gift card prizes! We will start at 2:00 PM! No need to sign up, just show up!

Wednesday is our Hobbit afternoon! We will begin at 2:00 and the program will last until the end of the movie! We will have plenty of snacks and drinks, including a "Hobbit Hole" cake. We will also have a trivia contest and a costume contest! The winner of the trivia contest will win a set of books and a gift card, and the costume contest winner will receive a gift card! As of right now, this event is waiting list only, however if you have not signed up yet and want to come, call to get placed on the waiting list or show up to see if there is room. If I can make room I will squeeze you in!

Thursday is our Teen Game Time from 2:00-4:00. We have had a great time so be sure to join us!

Last Week Review and Summer Reading Week 2!

Hello all! We had a fantastic time last week in our first week of the Summer Reading Program! Teens went home with bags of candy and made some great cave paintings for the walls! Be sure to come to a program so that you can see all of the results!

Summer Reading Programs Begin!

It's here! We will begin our Summer programming next week! All of our regular programs will move to earlier in the afternoon and we will have special programs every Wednesday that you must sign up for! Come by the library and sign up! Here is what we have going on next week:

Tuesday, June 4, is our first June Teen Challenge. We will be testing your memory for a chance to win prizes! I will be giving away over 30 different kinds of candy bars and candy. Not your regular size candy bars either. I'm talking King size and full sleeves and bags of candy. You won't want to miss this so join us at 2:00 PM!

Wednesday, June 5, is our first official Summer Reading Program. We will be painting cave paintings on the walls in the Teen Room at 2:00 PM so don't miss out.We will have plenty of snacks and drinks. Don't forget to sign up!

Also on Wednesday, Anita will have the Oklahoma City Zoo coming for a great presentation for the Children's program and you are more than welcome to sit in! They will be here twice, at 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM, so come for that and then come paint the walls!

Thursday, June 6, is our weekly game time! The time has moved up to 2:00 PM so don't miss out!

Tuesday we will have Teen Dinner and a Movie. We will be watching Hotel Transylvania beginning at 3:45. The plan was to have hamburgers, but because of the recent warm weather, we will not be cooking in the teen room to keep it from being too hot. There WILL BE FOOD though so be sure to come and enjoy!
