Winter Town - Book Review

Winter Town
by Stephen Emond
My Rating:
Winter Town tells the story of Evan and Lucy, childhood best friends. Lucy moves away after her parents divorce, but comes back every Christmas break to be with her dad. The story focues on the winter Lucy comes back looking completely different. She has gone from a normal looking girl to one who wears heavy black makeup, dresses differently, and acts differently. Evan is left trying to figure out what happened to her. The book follows the story of them trying to continue their friendship. It tells of Evan and Lucy's discovery of who the other really is, as well as finding out who they are themselves.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I thought it was written very well. At first it is told from Evan's perspective, but eventually switches to Lucy's perspective and provides a fresh outlook on the story. I also enjoyed how the author incorporated artwork into the book. For those who like to read manga and graphic novels, this may be a book you would enjoy. The graphics intermingle with the story and make it more interesting.

I would recommend this book to older teens, both guys and girls, especially those who like reading graphic novels. It really is a nice mixture of story and pictures.
